Carnival
On Friday we celebrated Carnival at school. All of the students were dressed up and it was impressive to see all of the widows (viudos/as) and people dressed in black funeral clothes. Students, teachers, parents, and other family members all enjoyed the celebration.
After a quick walk around the school the students were able to burn their sardines and cry over the loss. At the end we all were able to enjoy some nice hot chocolate and cake.

The Wizard of Oz
This year the fifth grade classes are dressing up as characters from The Wizard of Oz for Carnival. We are also learning the song "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."
Make sure you understand the words and how to pronounce them!
This song is very popular so there are many different versions. Here is a traditional one, sung by Judy Garland. This is a Hawaiian version or check out this one by Beyonce or listen to it sung in a jazz/rock style!
